Section I. – What is the Discount Group Program?
About the Program
The Discount Group Program was established to encourage and promote home schooling support groups by offering their members HSLDA services at a discount. Individual families who belong to an HSLDA discount group save 17% on our membership fee, paying $95 instead of $115.
Discount Group Requirements

Enroll a minimum of 10 HSLDA member families (we do not require all support group members to join HSLDA);

Maintain an enrollment/membership list;

Have regular communication (at least twice a year) with your families via newsletter, personal letters, or meetings, etc.; and

Make HSLDA membership materials available to your families.
Section II. – How To Become an HSLDA Discount Group
Get the Word Out
Inform your group of the discount plan opportunity and determine if there are 10 interested families. If you do not immediately find 10 interested families, don't be discouraged. You may simply need to wait awhile and try again.
Enrolling Your Discount Group Members
Divide your list of interested families into the following two categories:

Current HSLDA members - Provide each HSLDA member with the Enrollment Form to fill out and return to you (you can photocopy for distribution to your group.) Members do not need to send a check until renewal time. The 17% discount will appear on their next annual HSLDA renewal form.

Applying HSLDA members - Distribute an HSLDA application to each family interested in HSLDA membership. Ask them to fill it out and return it to you with a check for $95, payable to HSLDA. Note: We cannot accept one check for the whole group since each family is individually accepted into membership.
Fill out the Discount Group Forms
Complete and send the following forms to HSLDA, ATTN: Group Discount Coordinator

An Enrollment Form (for current members) or HSLDA membership application (for new members) for each of the families listed on the Membership Roll.
Approximately 2 weeks after we receive the above information, we will send you a confirmation letter with your confidential Discount Group number and additional information.
Note: We must receive all requested forms before we can approve your group for the discount. If you are unable to procure 10 families, notify your group immediately and return applications and checks to each family. Please do not hold any applications for more than one month!
Section III. – How to Maintain Your Discount Group Status
New HSLDA Applicants
After your group has received its Discount Group Number, new families applying for HSLDA membership under your group discount should send their applications and $95 payment directly to HSLDA. Please pre-enter your Discount Group number on the HSLDA applications you provide to your families.
Current HSLDA Members
HSLDA members who switch from another discount group to your discount group need to do one of the following:
Online Roster
HSLDA provides an online roster of your HSLDA group members. Once your discount group status has been approved, we send you a letter detailing where and how to access this roster. From this secure site, you will be able to add new families and remove ones who are no longer a part of your group. We recommend updating your roster online at least twice a year.
Grace Period
If the number of HSLDA members in your group drops to fewer than 7 families, you will be given a three-month grace period in which to regain the minimum level of 10 member families. If your group fails to meet the 10-family membership minimum by the end of the grace period, your group may lose its Discount Group status.
